She volunteers specifically with a program called Fairfax Families4Kids, which provides unique services to older, harder-to-place children in foster care. As a mentor and volunteer, Ms. Cantrel has spent several hours over the past 2 years with the children in this program, involved in educational, social and recreational activities that most people take for granted as part of their day-to-day experiences, but the children in Fairfax Families4Kids often miss out on these activities. Ms. Cantrel has been instrumental in assisting our children with the development and refinement of their computer skills and their social skills, thereby increasing their probability of success within a family […].

We are pleased to have Ms. Cantrel as a volunteer mentor for Fairfax Families4Kids. She has worked diligently with 4 of our older children who have demonstrated some special talents in webpage designing. She has also spearheaded a campaign to collect and refurbish used computers for distribution to the children in foster care who would not otherwise have computers to assist with their homework.
